Hey there, it’s Darren again,

In this post I wanted tell you about this great book I found to help you in all of your woodworking endeavours More importantly in it contains lots of bed woodworking plans for you to choose from which is probably why you’re here in the first place.

I have quite a few pieces of furniture in my home now that I’ve made myself. When we first moved into our home we had to make do with the pre-made flat pack cheap stuff you buy from chain stores, it didn’t take us long to realise that’s not what we wanted from a home that we may potentially spend the rest of our lives in.

That’s when I discided to take up woodworking as a hobby. After I’d made my first good piece I found it can be very rewarding. Especially when friends pop around and comment on how good a piece you’ve made is.

It’s hasn’t always been like that though, when I started making my own pieces I first tried them without any plans to work from and the results were less than exciting. It looked awful and fell to pieces within less than a year.

As for free plans, I tried these too, I’ve made two projects in total from them and I have to admit that one of them was a real gem but it took me four hours to find it. The second one was not quite as good, the blueprints were fine but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted and in the end I gave the piece away.

After all this I discided that the only way to get really good designs without spending hours and hours that I just don’t have looking for them was to to pay for them. So I started buying individual DIY designs.

I was happy doing this for quite some time as the quality was superb and if I hadn’t stumbled across this great resource I would probably still be doing it today.

The product I discovered is called Woodworking 4 Home. It contains 14,000 project plans, now that’s all well and good but at the time I was looking specifically for bed woodworking plans and I found them, quite a few of them in fact.

There were loft beds, bunk beds, platform beds, beds for toddlers and many more and that’s just the bed section not including the bedroom furniture bit.

There are over 100 categories including things like children’s room woodworking furniture, all sorts of animal houses, garden projects, fences, garages, mantel pieces television cabinets, and a really good section DIY for repairs around the home, just about any project you will want to create in the home or garden, there’s a plan for it.

You will need a printer or at least access to one because even with a laptop reading the plans off of a screen isn’t that easy and having such an expensive, delicate piece of equipment around hammers and power tools and stuff could end up being broken.

The book’s projects are suitable for all experience levels so it’s especially good for those wanting to take their hobby to the next level, making furniture that will impress just about anyone and the person wanting to take on more projects at home so you don’t need to hire out the work and in the end save yourself a lot of money.

If I’m honest woodworking has always been a part of my life from a young age. Even though I didn’t really become interested in it until I got my first home and started making furniture more through necessity than through choice.

What I mean by this is we could have bought cheap flat pack furniture but it doesn’t look very nice and all of the good quality stuff was way out of my price range.

My father had a workshop in his garage. He never built furniture for in the home but in the summer months he spent alot of time in the garden where he built a large hut, patio and various pieces of garden furniture.

It was this memory that sparked my interest in making my own furniture for for around the home which in turn has become a life long passion and I hope to keep enjoying it for the rest of this mortal life.

Here’s a quick video here for you on why you should always use good bed woodworking plans or any other type of plans for every projects you embark on.

Please let me apologise in advance for the background noise, this was the only time I had to make the video and you can hear my 2 year old daughter, Lily playing in the background.

Good bed woodworking plans are vital to achieving consistent high quality projects. Why? Because it’s very easy to make a mistake using poor quality ones, for example, in poor quality plans you often find that the measurements are wrong, it may only be a little bit out but it’s enough to give your project an amateurish, unattractive feel to it.

Good plans will also save you time and money, last longer and look more professional.

How can they save me money?

Never assume anything when acquiring bed woodworking plans, despite what you may think many designs don’t even come with a list of tools and raw materials needed to finish the project. You’re just expected to to count them from the plans themselves.

How can they save me time?

To start with good bed woodworking plans will always have an approximate time to complete the build in on the plans. This way you know whether you have enough time to complete the project and you can better organise yourself around this time frame.

If you’re like me your better half won’t want to wait 3 months for you to finish that piece of furniture you disparately need. So if you know it’s going to take this long to build from the beginning you can either not do the project at all and go out and buy something pre-built, which takes all of the fun out of it if you ask me or you can warn your better half how long it’ll take to finish beforehand to prevent any unnecessary arguments in the future.

Good plans will also have a list of things you need so you can go out and buy exactly what you need from the outset without having to stop half way through to go out and buy another piece you’ve missed. You can even buy some spare bits if you want just in case.

Finally good plans will be clear and simple, saving you bags of time because you’re not trying to decipher some cryptic code that looks like it’s written in a different language.

The only thing worse than poor plans is no plans at all.

For the novice or hobbyist it can be very challenging creating something with very good plans so with no plans at all you’re setting yourself up for failure right from the beginning. Guessing the size pieces you need and getting them wrong, then starting again with a little more trial and error and ending up so frustrated that you finally just give up.

It doesn’t have to be that way, woodworking can be as easy or as hard, as pleasurable or as tedious as you want it to be. Now if you want your building projects to be easy and pleasurable then the first place to start, without out any doubt is to have a good set of bed woodworking plans.

Hey There, Darren Here,

If you’ve found this page you’re probably looking for bed woodworking plans. So if you’re not, you’re in the wrong place and  if you are I’m glad you’ve found me because decent plans can be very hard to find without spending an absolute fortune on them.

I’ve seen some plans going for an excess of $30 per plan. Yes, you can find free ones but let’s be honest, most of the time they’re not worth the webspace they’re stored on. Now I have to admit that for my first two projects I discovered a couple of good blueprints but they took me ages to find and I mean ages.

I have a 2 year old daughter and a partner, Lily, my daughter is growing up so fast and sometimes with work and all of my other commitments I feel like I’m missing stuff so I certainly don’t want to spend  my evenings trawling the infinite amount of poor quality free plans in the hope of finding that really good one.

I know if I look for long enough I’ll probably find something that’s OK but not what I really want and if I don’t find the plans I need in a reasonable amount of time then my better half will just go out and buy a pre-built one at 4 times the expense.

By the time I’d completed my first two projects I knew I needed a more comprehensive book of plans, something with a lot of projects in it so I could pick and choose what I wanted to make next.

In my search I was delighted when I stumbled upon a book jam packed with many different detailed projects including the bed woodworking plans I was thinking about doing next. I bought it and it’s served me very well over my last few projects and I’m looking forward to making more.

It’s name is woodworking 4 home.
